Preventing malfunctions and maintaining the Small Bread Machine KKM

Posted onJune 17, 2026

A well-maintained small bread machine KKM ensures consistent product quality and prevents unnecessary downtime. With simple daily and weekly maintenance, the machine remains reliable and efficient.

Within maintenance, we distinguish between:

  • User maintenance (daily and weekly)
  • Periodic maintenance (performed by a service technician)

Both are essential for a long service life and trouble-free operation.

Daily Maintenance

After each production run, it is important to briefly set the machine to pre-run mode. This automatically lubricates the belts and the measuring section, helping the machine continue to operate smoothly. At the same time, check whether all components are functioning properly and are sufficiently lubricated.

Next, take the time to clean and inspect the main components. Pay attention to the following:

  • set the machine to pre-run mode to lubricate the belts and measuring section
  • check whether all parts of the measuring mechanism are properly lubricated
  • clean the lubrication rollers and inspect the lubrication of the belts
  • clean the measuring pistons (white pistons) and the measuring chamber using the brush
  • empty the collection tray and remove dough residues
  • check the oil level
  • refill the flour duster if necessary

Finally, close all doors and let the machine run briefly. This allows you to immediately verify that everything is functioning correctly and that the machine is ready for the next production run.

Weekly Maintenance

In addition to daily maintenance, the machine requires extra attention on a weekly basis. Thoroughly clean the blade, the press piston, and the press chamber to remove buildup. The lubrication rollers can also be removed for thorough cleaning.

Also check the following:

  • the oil level in the oil tank
  • the flour duster (clean and refill with sifted flour)
  • the machine for unusual noises and signs of wear

These are often the first indications that certain components require attention.

Periodic Maintenance

To ensure the machine continues to function properly over the long term, periodic maintenance by a service technician is essential. During these maintenance visits, the chains of the measuring section are inspected and readjusted if necessary. Electrical components, safety systems, and the overall condition of the machine are also checked.

A machine that is not cleaned properly can start to run “heavily.” This places extra strain on the drive system, causing chains and other components to wear out more quickly. Regular maintenance helps prevent this and extends the service life of the machine.

Belts KKM

Preventive Replacement of Parts

Some components require extra attention. For example, belts are recommended to be replaced preventively every three to four years. Over time, they lose their flexibility, which can cause them to harden and slip off.

Keep the following in mind:

  • new belts will stretch and may need to be shortened later
  • this shortening is usually carried out during a maintenance service
  • keep spare belts in stock to prevent downtime

Final Note

Proper maintenance is not a secondary task, but an essential part of the production process. By giving the machine daily and weekly attention, combined with periodic maintenance, the KKM will continue to perform reliably. This helps prevent downtime and ensures consistent small bread quality.
