Recipe: Valentine's Day Biscuits

A romantic example is our recipe for Valentine’s Day biscuits: a classic shortbread dough that gets a subtle pink color thanks to a touch of beetroot powder. The result is a soft, buttery biscuit with a loving appearance – perfect for a special day.

Ingredients

  • 100% flour
  • 50% caster sugar
  • 55% cold butter
  • 8.3% egg yolk
  • 1.5% baking powder
  • 3% lemon zest
  • 1.6% beetroot powder

Method

  • Mix the cold butter (cut into coarse pieces) with the sugar and lemon zest.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder and mix with the beetroot powder.
  • Mix the dough briefly – not too long to avoid toughness.
  • Let the dough rest in the refrigerator overnight, and knead it smooth just before processing.
  • Optionally garnish with (white) chocolate.

Process the dough with the KGM Biscuit Machine and use the figureroller heartshape (no. 1340‑900) or Heart roller (no. 1340‑905). The result: a beautifully pink‑colored biscuit, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
